Key Collaboration:
Product Managers, Design System Team, ECM Engineers, Localization Teams
The Challenge
Managing hundreds of regional sites caused brand fragmentation and inconsistent user journeys. Legacy sites were cluttered with redundant pages, making navigation confusing. Additionally, inspecting each page individually created major publishing delays, while multi-language layouts frequently broke visual designs.
Design Approach
Rather than designing individual pages, the approach shifted to a modular system built with flexible UI templates and component suites. Markets were grouped by regional product offerings to allow batched launches instead of custom builds. Governance moved to a streamlined region-wide template review process, with every layout optimized for mobile performance and localized translation.
Design Solution
The final system drastically reduced page bloat across consumer and merchant platforms, making site navigation clear and effortless. Centralized templates allowed design system updates and new regional launches to deploy significantly faster. Localized imagery guidelines preserved cultural relevance without sacrificing brand unity, and an optimized cross-functional process aligned product, legal, and localization teams for smooth release cycles.
