The Challenge

For the launch of Aftonbladet’s new content verticals, the "Min Ekonomi" personal finance section needed an intuitive navigation structure to help readers quickly discover and browse complex financial sub-topics. Additionally, the core article template required a visual redesign to improve readability and engagement across high-traffic editorial content.

Design Approach

Worked within Schibsted Niche Service as the visual and product designer to establish a cohesive visual language for the new sections. Designed a tailored illustration system for the horizontal carousel menu, creating distinct thematic icons that directly represent specific subcategories like household budgeting, investments, and personal savings. Collaborated with editorial and product leads to restructure article page layouts with optimized typography scales, cleaner content hierarchy, and better media presentation.

Design Solution

Delivered an iconographic carousel menu for "Min Ekonomi" that acts as a visual map, enabling users to effortlessly scan, identify, and jump to their preferred topics. Implemented a modernized article page design that balances editorial depth with a distraction-free layout, significantly improving the overall reading experience across Aftonbladet's new digital sections.
