The Challenge

Scaling the payment methods catalog page to support 150+ alternative payment methods required preventing visual fatigue and infinite scrolling while maintaining high readability.

Merchants needed a fast way to evaluate coverage through text search and a multi-variable filter covering Payment Type, Seller Country, Buyer Country, Processing Currency, and Settlement Currency.

As a core requirement, the underlying Catalog Component had to be built from scratch for the Design System library to seamlessly power three separate products: the Payment Methods page, Partner Directory page, and Offers Page.

Design Approach

Partnered directly with the Design System team to co-create a modular atomic card architecture with strict constraints for uniform logo sizing, short descriptions, tooltips, and max-badge metadata limits.

Collaborated closely with engineering to streamline component props, removing legacy schemas like footer fields to ensure clean implementation across all target products.

Built full WCAG accessibility into the component specs from day one, incorporating keyboard navigation, clear visual contrast, and proper ARIA labeling for filters and tooltips.

Design Solution

Balanced top-level messaging with an optimized grid layout that cleanly displays over 150 items without visual clutter.

Published a single, high-density Catalog Component to the global Design System library, successfully unifying the UI across three major product pages while significantly reducing design and tech debt.

Delivered a responsive filtering system that handles complex merchant parameters and is built to scale for future roadmap needs, including 1–3 additional filters and category tabs.
